Nana's Pie Dough

I grew up looking forward to Christmas and Thanksgiving at my grandparents house. I always knew we would be spoiled with a multitude of treats. My favorite above all was my Nana's apple pie. When I first began to bake, I was determined to try and duplicate her pie dough recipe. I think I've done a pretty good job here. I made a killer pie at Thanksgiving, but silly me - I forgot to take pictures. By the time I remembered, it was gone! Stay tuned for my Apple Cinnamon Pie recipe, it's coming soon.
Ingredients

4 cups of all purpose flour
4 teaspoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 pound of crisco (very cold)
1 egg
3 teaspoons of white vinegar
3/4 cup of cold water

Beat the egg in a measuring cup, add the vinegar and water to it. Mix well.
In a mixer fitted with the flat paddle, add the dry ingredients and mix on low.
In chunks, mix in the Crisco until it becomes crumbly.
Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry mixture in 2-3 increments. Mix just until combined.

Once the dough has come together, form into a ball and place in a large ziploc bag. Press down on the bag to form the dough into a disk and refrigerate for a few hours. This dough can stay in the fridge for up to 1 month! I made this pie dough for our thanksgiving feast. I got a very large covered apple pie, and a two large lemon tarts out of it.
