There's nothing that frustrates me more when I find a recipe that I get excited about and halfway through the process, realizing that I do not have the ingredients on hand to make it. Therefore, I try to have a working grocery list that I use when I go shopping. To make sure, that I have the spices on hand for those midnight bursts of energy that see me in the kitchen whipping up a batch of Tandoori Chicken :)
Here are a few things that I always make sure I have on hand.
Olive oil
Fresh Garlic (Minced in a bottle too)
Fresh ginger (Stick them in a ziploc bag and freeze, it lasts and grates better)
Bottled minced Ginger (Usually right where the garlic is)
All spice
Nutmeg
Cream of Tartar
All Purpose Flour
Whole Wheat Flour
Bread Flour
Chickpeas
Sour cream
Greek Yogurt
Garam Malsala
Ground Coriander
Basil
Cinnamon
Cumin
Chili flakes
Cayenne
Seasoned Salt
Vanilla
Unsalted butter
Baking chocolate
